Why Can’t We Be Friends?

I’m new to this blogging world, so cut me some slack.  I’m not a professional writer, bite me.  I couldn’t even tell if I should capitalize “be” in my title.  Also, I got the inspiration of the title from the song “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” by War if you couldn’t tell.  It’s a really fun and happy song that is very difficult to not sing along with.  If you have not listened to it yet, then you are probably Patrick Star living under a rock in Bikini Bottom.  I highly recommend you to listen to the song if you have not.  (Link below)

One thing I’m really passionate about is equality.  I can talk about it for hours if I wanted.  I believe in human rights, world peace, order, and equality.  I don’t understand how people can be so close-minded when it comes to judging others.  Muslims, Indians, Mexicans, women, homosexuals, bisexuals, Jews, the mentally ill, the disabled, African-Americans, etc. are people just like you.  They have a beating heart, breathing lungs, some sort of mind, and they were made by the same creator as you.  You have no right to judge them.  We were made in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors because our creator wanted us to be different, special, and unique.  We weren’t made differently than others because He wanted whites to better than blacks, males to be better than females, etc., but because He found us beautiful the way He created us.  We were made in the image of God, Imago Dei.  “I recognize that every human being, in and out of the womb, carries the image of God; without exception.  Therefore, I will treat everyone with love and respect,” (http://imagodeicampaign.org/).  Just because someone looks different from you, doesn’t mean that they weren’t as loved by God as you were.

People get judged and mistreated everyday because others refuse to accept them.  They aren’t seen as “good enough” by society.  Isn’t that sad, the constant reminder that you aren’t wanted by this planet just because of the way you look, your race, your gender, who you love, or whatever people mistreat you about.  People torture themselves, people harms themselves, people kill themselves because of those close-minded idiots who make them lose their sanity.  They lose their minds, trying to fit in for society.  And the worst part of it all is that they will probably never be fully accepted.  There will always be people who bring them down and spit on them for who they are or what they look like.  They get disrespected because of something they can’t control, we can’t control the way people were born.

Equality is important for mankind.  Americans parade the idea of human equality, but we’ve forgotten the meaning of the powerful word.  I went onto the trusting site, Google and searched the definition and came across this, “The state of being equal, esp. in status, rights, and opportunities.”  Next time you go out preaching the idea of equality, make sure you’ve learned the turn definition of what you are speaking out about.

So why can’t we all be friends?  Why can’t we hold hands around the world and accept, respect, and love one another for who we are?  Why can’t we just love each other?

Even the goddess, Beyoncé spoke out against gender equality.  I recommend you all to listen to her inspiring words that makes you stop and think.  (Link below)
